SEO is the abbreviation of search engine optimization.
What is Search Engine Optimization?

Search engine optimization is a labour-intense process whereby an internet site is adapted to make it more accessible
for search engines, so that more pages become indexed, and
become more traceable in the search engines.
With Search engine optimization it is important to have
insight in how search engines work and why a certain
internet site is found through search results whereas
another Internet site did not gain this top position.
Some examples of SEO:
Site analyzing
Defining target group (language, region, etc…)
Defining of the relevant keywords
Adapting of the web text (content)
Adapting the source code by page, such as:
Titles
Headers
Meta tags (description, keywords, etc…)
Link structure
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)
Alt-texts
Removal of search engine-unfriendly
obstacles etc…
Building in of vast statistics
Presenting to the search engines
Put in normal language: Adapting the source codes
and if necessary adapting the actual text of the internet
site, to raise the traceability of the internet site by the
search engines.
A
couple of years ago search engine optimization was nothing
more than adding a number of meta-tags to your Internet
site, at present this is no longer sufficient because of the
existence of millions of internet sites.
An Internet site is indexed by a search engine, using a
robot, also called spider. Search engine optimization
ensures that Internet sites are optimally readable for a
robot/spider and become indexed to their full potential by
the search engines.
A flash-website is a disaster for a robot and thus it is best to
avoid these.
